Households with children in Germany 2009

This month's map reveals the regional share of multiple-person households with children at the level of Germany's urban and rural districts (source: GfK GeoMarketing, GfK Demographics 2009).

GfK Purchasing Power Europe 2009 / 2010 - GfK GeoMarketing

GfK annually calculates the regional share of different household types according to composition, age or income bracket. Along with additional demographic data, this information comprises the "GfK Demographics" study. The percentage of households with families is falling throughout Germany: 2009 marked the first time that the number of households without children exceeded those with children. At 39.5 percent in 2009, the share of single-person households in Germany is growing most quickly. Landshut boasts the greatest percentage of families with children at 43 percent, while Greifswald has the youngest households at 23 percent. GfK GeoMarketing's study also reveals substantial regional differences in these criteria throughout Germany.
